AutoMate Retrofits
You can now order AutoMate retrofit kits directly from us via email. AutoMate delivers fully autonomous, COLREGS-compliant collision avoidance, laser-guided docking, GPS waypoint navigation, and sky anchoring — giving existing boats modern autonomy without replacing them, and supporting sustainability by extending vessel lifespans. Our universal controls adapter makes AutoMate compatible with any steering and throttle system on your vessel.
Why Retrofits?
When AutoMate first launched, it was mainly offered in new-build recreational boats through our partner boating brands. But we’ve heard consistently from boaters: most don’t want to replace a vessel they already love. From a sustainability angle, discarding boats just to gain modern navigation technology doesn’t make sense — and retrofits offer a smarter path. That’s why we’re expanding AutoMate into the retrofit market. We’ve already demonstrated retrofit installations on commercial ships, fitting AutoMate with minimal disruption. Now we’re bringing that same retrofit model to recreational boating — upgrading existing vessels rather than replacing them.
At $15,000, AutoMate is positioned as a cohesive navigation and autopilot system that replaces many separate chartplotters, autopilots, displays, and navigation tools, offering a cleaner, more ergonomic console. AutoMate is also offered in four sensor package options, letting boaters choose the level of automation and safety features that match their boating style and budget.
Why AutoMate?
AutoMate is designed to bring advanced autonomy to recreational boats, turning everyday outings into safer and more enjoyable experiences. At its core, the system relies on LiDAR-powered perception to continuously scan the water, detect obstacles, and help vessels avoid collisions. This same precision technology makes it possible for AutoMate to perform laser-guided docking, enabling smooth and confident maneuvers into slips and marinas without requiring thrusters, joystick controls, or dual outboards.
Beyond navigation and docking, AutoMate supports GPS waypoint following for hands-free cruising, as well as sky anchoring, which holds a boat’s position with remarkable accuracy without the need for a traditional anchor.
